Swimming Pools


IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AUTHORITY GRANTED BY THE GENERAL LAWS OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS, CHAPTER III, SECTION 31, AND
310 CMR 12.23(1), THE BOARD OF HEALTH OF THE TOWN OF WALPOLE HEREBY ESTABLISHES THE FOLLOWING REGULATION RELATIVE TO THE SAFE OPERATION OF SWIMMING POOLS.

1. LIFEGUARDS;

A. The operator of any Public or Semi-Public pool with a depth greater than 4 feet shall provide lifeguards 17 years of age or older holding a current Red Cross Advanced Life Savers Certificate, or equivalent, and a current CPR Certificate, and a Standard First Aid Certificate, or equivalent. One lifeguard shall be provided for each 50 bathers. Pools with a depth of less than 4 feet shall have someone in attendance with at least a current CPR Certificate, or equivalent, and a Standard First Aid Certificate, or equivalent.

B. Lifeguard shall be in constant attendance during bathing hours and no bather shall be admitted to the swimming pool unless the lifeguards are present.

These regulations were adopted by vote of the Board of Health, Town of Walpole, on April 12, 1988, and are to be full force and effect on and after May 24, 1988, and shall, before said effective date, be published in a newspaper published in this Town and a copy thereof shall be deposited in the office of the Town Clerk.
