MANDATORY FOOD HANDLER TRAINING-AND CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

All persons, firms or corporations that operate a food establishment in the Town of Manchester, or as may be required by the Board of Health or its representative, shall maintain in employment at least one (1) full-time equivalent owner, operator or manager who is certified as having completed all requirements of the Board of Health Mandatory Food Handler Training and Certification Program. Program requirements including at least six(6) hours of classroom instruction in the principles and practices of food service sanitation and safe food handling, including certification-examination. The licensee shall be responsible for any registration fee incurred in complying with this regulation.

Food establishments shall comply with this regulation by December 31, 1990. After that date, no food establishment shall be in operation or open for business without having an owner, operator or manager in its employ who has successfully completed the Food Handler Training and Certification Program. New establishments or establishments with a change in ownership or management shall satisfy the requirements of participation in the course at its first available offering.

Initial certification shall be effective for three (3) years, at which time a food handler may renew said certification for an additional three (3) years by attending a refresher-type program, including at least two-and-one-half (2 1/2) hours of classroom instruction related to the principles and practices of food service sanitation and safe food handling.

Notification of program date(s) and scheduling of food establishment personnel shall be handled by the Board of Health.
